10-Normal Iron Qon Spear warning

4 posts in this topic

While running Iron Qon last night, we ran into a few instances where DBM would annouce Throw Spear on one target, only to have the spear actually be thrown at a player on the other side of the room. Is there a work around, or is there a way to mitigate this happening?

it might be slightly inaccurate so long as healers have aggro on iron qon, especially if aggro is bouncing between them, it becomes very accurate once tanks pick up and threat iron qon some before he mounts his second dog.

what you're likley seeing his threat changes between healers mid scan so it thinks he changed target for spear when he only changed target do to a healer pulling threat.

there is also another situation where he's coded to check monks and then only throw a spear at them if they are NOT in melee range of boss, else throw spear at the monk he looked at. if it announces a monk but he throws it at someone else it's cause monk was close to boss (monks are weird because they are considered invalid targets in melee range but valid ones outside of it on this fight). The issue is that he still looks at the monk if they were chosen but then turns around and throws it at someone else he didn't look at if monk isn't valid target.

It did appear to be bouncing from healer to healer, since we're on opposite sides of the room. I'd thought that tanks had solid aggro on him, but we'll have to take a look at it next week.

Thanks for the info!

Ultimately the way it works, it scans him and announces anyone he looks at that is NOT his aggro target. it's just wonky when his aggro target changes a lot sometimes. you can level it out by ensuring he just fixates one healer (maybe a holy paladin running RF) or ensurin a tank taunts and hits him a few times before he jumps on 2nd mount usually smooths out spear target for rest of fight.

it's hard to make it any more accurate than it is now do to how awkward it is to scan for his target BEFORE he casts anything.
