Warlords of Draenor Druid discussion

11 posts in this topic

Rules will be enforced less strictly in this thread.  Hopefully people will be mature and contribute and I won't have to moderate here at all.  Things that are specifically allowed here but not elsewhere include wishlisting, armchair design, feelings and reactions, conjecture, and opinion.  Discussion is as always open to theorycrafting and game play, but things like art that are normally off topic are also included.

Posters still need to use clear and polite language.  And while the objective quality of post content won't be enforced here, posts still do have to have content.  "Here is how I feel about this feature, and why" is a good post.  "I am happy / sad / angry about this feature and am / am not going to resub because of it" is not a good post.

This thread will be locked at the end of the beta when the expansion goes live.  Have fun!

I have to say I am happy and sad at same time about Symbiosis being removed.  I enjoyed the utility of it but hated having to refresh it every time my target decided to switch talent/glyph.

I didn't like it that much, i play mostly resto and it was only good on a shaman! and we never had a shaman until now, when you need all that shaman utility!

Edit: Oops, I misread the SotF tooltip when I wrote this.  It seems to add 30% mastery only when casting an empowered Wrath or Starfire.  That means the other percentages will drop, and SF/Wr will contribute a bit more, percentage-wise.

I did a simple Balance simulator (CA, SF, Wr, SS, MF, SuF, Flare, shooting stars, and empowerment from Starsurge, no talents other than SotF), just to generate some logs and get a feel for how things would change.  For numbers, I based things off of Wrath:

Starfire: DPET 5% larger than Wrath

Starsurge DPET 100% larger than Wrath

Each DoT tick, 25% of Wrath damage

DoT direct damage, same as a DoT tick (except MF gets double that).

I assumed Flare has its own Eclipse sine wave, which peaks when Lunar/Solar are both at 50%.

I assumed gaining SS from a DoT tick does not reset the 30s SS timer.

I used low gear levels (Crit/Haste/Mastery (with SotF) at 15%, 15%, 82%)

Starsurge count (and direct contribution) drops significantly from what we are used to.  Over a not-quite three minute fight:

  • SF 27 casts, 28% of damage
  • Wr 33, 20%
  • MF Ticks: 96, 15%
  • SuF Ticks 95, 13%
  • SS 11, 10%
  • Flare Ticks 66, 9%
  • MF DD 5, 2%
  • Flare DD 11, 1%
  • SuF DD 8, 1%

The other big surprise was how fast the Eclipse% changes in the middle of the curve.  From the log, a Wrath and SunFire were cast simultaneously with, with Solar at 72%, the next cast was a StarFire, completed slightly less than 4s later(gcd+3s cast and not much haste) with Lunar at 68%, so in 4s, the Lunar percentage climbed from 28% to 68%.

I think the change to smart healing was a good one. Seemed far more active for my friend last night.

Commenting from the Feral standpoint, I actually felt like my Pred.Swiftness heals were of use, I did a small but probably useful amount of healing. Especially in the 5 man. I quite liked having this power. Once improved Rejuv is picked up on the way to 100 I think I will make use of it also.

OK, can anyone here offer up some Boomkin help? I'm looking around at enchants/gems etc. Noxxxic is telling me to go for Crit and haste enchants/gems. Icy-veins is saying Mastery. Which is it? I'm getting conflicting reports here and I'd like to be able to maximize my dmg. Thx.

Mastery at level 100. If you are still leveling I would stay with haste.

Might anyone have any idea why feral dps today, as of 3/11/2015, seems to pack so much of the wallop I remember it having 4 years ago?  I say this from the perspective of being well geared in a raid group of other well geared players.  In 2011 I could pace top 5 consistently on dps meters in 25 mans but now, in Draenor with 10-15 mans, I'm barely staying above the tanks.

That's dead last out of all dps.  The abilities are more or less the same.  The rotation is more or less the same.  Is it the lack of gem/enchant stacking that was once available?  Were my bleeds all-around weakened in some distant patch of the past?  Were they just too OP relative to other dps back then and are now properly adjusted?  I'm running out of ideas for fixing my embarassing dps.

I come to this forum because I used to read it regularly years ago the first time around playing WoW.  I can think of no other source for the sort of correct and detailed information I seek.  Anyone out there want to take a stab at this?  Currently in heroic high maul and BRF, 10-15 man groups, the top dps is breaking 30k per single fight with an item level probably around 670 whereas I'm item lvl 664 and there are times I can't even get past 20k per single fights.  Many times lately, especially the most recent run where I was using an adjusted rotation hoping it would produce more dps but in actuality produced even LESS.  Now I'm just rambling, someone chime in if you can.

I really wish I could make a topic about this and put it all down in words in a proper form to pose to the community.

A basic question is fine in this thread anyways. New thread creation is limited to new members to avoid too many threads getting created.

The druid forums are a bit lacking in guides these days. Something I'd like to fix but I just need more qualified guide writers willing to write decent guides and promote EJ quality level discussions these forums have grown to expect.

    • DBM 6.2.21 Released
      By MysticalOS
      Key: Blue: Noteworthy, Purple: Major
      New Features
      Core:
Added new option to DBM-Core timer options that allows shorter text to be used for certain timers that would otherwise have timer text that's very long and often truncaded. This option is on by default but can be disabled if you prefer real spell names on timers over shorter (and sometimes not technically correct) spell names on them. Emerald Nightmare:
Added additional mod stubs/combat detection for newly added bosses to Dungeon Journal. The Nighthold:
Added complete mod for Trilliax from heroic testing Added complete mod for Chronomagic Anomaly from heroic testing. Added additional mod stubs/combat detection for newly added bosses to Dungeon Journal. Hellfire Citadel:
Added auto assignments for SOAKERS on Mythic Archimonde that matches the common paragon weak aura for assignment order (group based). This makes DBM a COMPLETE solution for mark of the legion that doesn't rely on any 3rd party augmentation. Make sure raid leader sets appropriate desired option for where players with DEBUFF go to ensure matching to your strat (this feature was added in an earlier DBM version). Auto soaker assignments honors this setting as well (which means if RL disables Mark of legion, this too is disabled). Added an option (off by default) for expert users to disable the raid leaders ability to override their Mark of Legion settings. Some raid leaders don't trust DBM and will disable it for raid and force weak aura usage even when DBMs assignments not only match the weak auras, but have superior features like the HUD that make mark of legion easier. Now these expert users can override their raid leader for their personal mod. If override is enabled then mark behavior uses the USERS drop down setting for mark of legion behavior. Make sure you set this correctly so it actually DOES match weak aura's RL is having guild use. Broken Isles:
Added Mod stubs with auto loading and combat detection for Nithogg and Soultakers. Legion Dungeons:
Added complete mods for Halls of Vallor Added complete mods for Maw of Souls Added complete mods for Neltharians Lair Added complete mods for Eye of Azshara Added complete mods for Grove of Wardens Added complete mods for The Arcway Updated stubs/combat detection for Court of Stars (no warnings yet, dungeon has yet to be tested at time of this release) Bug Fixes
      Core:
Fixed bug where DBM was reloading mod options on level up needlessly. This also fixed a lua error when leaving dungeons in legion alpha when you de-leveled from 110 back down to 10x. Fixed a lua error when moving special warning frame. Fixed a few missed calls to old Battle.net apis. (New in 6.2.20) Fixed another missed Battle.net api. (New in 6.2.21) Hellfire Citadel:
Fixed a bug where the yells didn't match the icons on Mannoroth if the new "assign by role" feature is used. Changes
      Core:
DBM-Core will now warn about DPM-Core (Deadly PVP Mods) conflicts. Updated DBM-Core auto invite accepting feature to be compatible with API changes in upcoming patch 6.2.4 DBM-Core now allows special warning duration to be lowered to 1 second, down from 3. This allows users to lower amount of time text is on screen from special warnings even more. Hellfire Citadel:
Updated several timers across the zone to reduce text length and make them more readable when they are small bars. The Nighthold:
Renamed DBM-Suramar to DBM-Nighthold. If you have a DBM-Suramar folder, go ahead and delete it. DBM will now ignore this folder and not load it as it's superseded by DBM-Nighthold For more DBM news, visit:
