EJ posters and cross server bgs

I haven't run into an EJ team in WSG yet, but we did go up against Overrated the other night and get roundly spanked.

A mixed EJ/Aurora/irregulars group actually ran into your AB team a couple of days ago - it was a fun match even if I still suck at pvp and had something shameful like a 7/5 ratio.

I may have to actually break out Zappy at some point. :)

I'll also agree with the 2-shot thing - it seems like a lot of cloth casters from PvE servers haven't quite figured out the whole AC and Stamina thing, and most terrifyingly routinely forget to apply their self-buffs. Death's Sting makes hitting priests with no Inner Fire up quite amusing.

I still feel gimp with 3770 and in bgs I see mages running around with barely more than 3100. These are the ones with mana enchants and regen on their bracers. I feel sorry for them in pvp.

Damn, wish I was there, would have been fun to chop you up with my Dark edge ;)

i have mana regen on my bracers and i'm a hunter! :-P i do, however, still have 5700 health (5800 if i use barb instead of eye of nerub). mmmm health.

i've been trying to get a pvp group together recently, but naxx really makes it hard - both because of how many nights we raid and how many of us are pure PVE specs. lots of people don't want to PVP without PVP specs, and we certainly don't have the gold to respec every night or every weekend. :

The trick seems to be to add -servername to the whisper, so I had to do /t probiscus-kilrogg. Somewhat annoying considering some of the server names are obnoxious.

According to some Blizzard posts on the test realm forum, you can abbreviate the servername as long as it's unambiguous. You can even omit it, as long as you put a dash behind the player name.

I.e. you could /w roana- <whatever you want to say> as long as there's no other Roana in your battleground, and /w roana-sc in order to distinguish me from another Roana on Silver Hand (assuming they are even in the same cluster, I'm making these examples up from whole cloth).

Never tried it myself (see below), but that's how it's supposed to work.

How do people hit 60 without a rank? /boggle

I know that I suck at PvP, so I don't engage in it, except by accident (typically when one of my healer characters gets flagged from healing an NPC during an escort quest). Therefore, I have no rank. If I ever decide that I want to check out battlegrounds regardless, that'd probably be a nightmarish experience for the alliance team. :)

I was doing some PvP this weekend and was absolutely shocked at the number of terrible PvPers there are out there. Maybe I'm just used to the Mal'Ganis PvP games, which consist of people who have a general idea of how to play their class even if they don't do it well, but when I have a warlock with 3300 HP whining about how he's not getting heals, I tend to get rather upset.

My favorite, though, was the AV that about 12 of us joined last night (yes, you can sort of queue as group, you just have to all click it at the same time and you'll probably end up in the same place). We, of course, set our group plus a couple pubbie tagalongs by Galvanger, proceeded to wipe the floor with the entire opposing raid as they came up the hill (this is what happens when you put 3 BWL/AQ40 geared healers on two similarly geared warriors), then got to listen to the rest of the BG group complain that we were making the game take longer; about an hour later, we'd finished the game without losing a single objective. Do people actually enjoy the 20 minute races, for which you get about 400 rep, 1500 honor total, and get to be cleaved to death repeatedly by marshals?

And then my last game of the night, where I ran into a SoldOut WSG team, and while riding around waiting for the game to end discovered that the pit by the Alliance portal has been fixed so you can't get half the team stuck down there. :(

inner fire was a nightmare when it was just 3minutes. now with the 10min timer, any self respecting priest had better toss that and stam buff up in pvp. otherwise... you just suck

I just want to make a distinction that it seems to me that when people here say "terrible pvpers"... they usually mean "ungeared pvpers". Now I have a very geared out hunter (full tier 2, Ashjre'thul, a lot of other stuff from AQ40)... but I also have a rogue and a priest in basically full blue gear. When people make statements like "Yea, I 2-shot him, he's a terrible pvper", it just doesn't make sense. I regularly 2-3 shot mages in pvp, but that doesn't *necessarily* make them bad pvpers.

I don't care if I have innerfire and stam buff up on my priest, with 3800 buffed health, I'm getting wrecked by that rogue with a death's sting before I know he's even there. Someone mentioned a warlock with 3100 health... well, its true he shouldn't complain, he's obviously trying to get as much +dmg as he can with blue and green gear... basically, he should expect to die, and often. But I don't see how that fact alone makes him a "terrible pvper." He could on the other hand load up on stam gear, but still die often because he's wearing cloth and you can't get too much stam with green and blue gear and be useless because he's not doing much damage.

A warlock choosing to have 3100 HP is a perfect example of a bad pvper honestly. Even if you're relying on blues you should know how to prioritize your class's gear for the environment.

Probiscus: Is it just me or did you just edit out nearly every one of your posts claiming they were double posts? I certainly didn't see any originally.

That's probably my crappy mage twink Mahngaina. +400 dmg but only 100ish stamina and I haven't dropped any cash on +hp enchants/librams. Hell, I never even bought a mount. Saving all my cash for my paladin reroll. <3

I don't pug anymore either. Got sick of 2 hour games against really shitty Kargath premades full of t0/1 paladins who liked to sit in their gy with 9 people and hope their single warlock or mage could ap/pom/pyro gank their flag back. Dalaran and Delvengyr aren't much better most of the time but at least I don't run into them as often. Out of roughly 20 games a night for the past week, half will be against low-tier Kargath premades.

So now all I really fear are the Archimonde premades. Get about 1 of those a night and we end up pulling every trick we can think of to win.

But it's not just the lack of gear. It's people like that warlock, whose problem wasn't so much the 3100 HP thing (although that's kind of puzzling) but his audacity in asking for a heal, especially since I was busy healing a warrior who was busy wrecking the Alliance lines. (Actually, most "hael plz" people get on my nerves, but that's another story.) There's also the always amusing example of someone in AB watching me get CC'd and the flag capped instead of doing something about it, warlocks who don't take the hint when I dispel their first 4 Corruptions, and a whole legion of people who as I previously mentioned not only participate willingly in AV races, but get upset when we cap Snowfall because "you're making the game take 3 hours".

What are the queue times like since the cross server patch? On mal'ganis, I mean.

Thats really a bummer Ranalis. They really should have made some effort to balance population on servers as skewed as that.

We are now at that 'what weird time can most of us be online to kill thaddius' stage. Because it seems unlikely that we will be killing him during prime time. Meanwhile so many people have left Tichondrius that it is now a low/med pop server. It has been sucky for 2 years. When we were high pop there were no hardware transfers available. Now enough people have left that we are not up for a transfer anymore, yet the problems still persist. BG9 needs the new hardware so badly but we will not get it till expansion I fear.

I'm surprised it's not decent for people who raid at american times. The majority of the Blackrock population (80%+) raid at Australian time which is about 2am server for west coast servers. I imagine it would be the same on the other Aussie servers (which are also in the same cluster). In fact, I can only think of about 3 guilds that actually raid american times on Blackrock :) I was under the impression instance servers were shared amongst the cluster, though I might be wrong!

Yeah, there was some weird stuff going on where i was seeing double of all my posts. So, I went back and deleted the 2nd ones, only to find that it was deleting both. I was confused. :(

I know there are many times where I'll decide Demon armor simply isn't worth the mana cost. (Although this is usually against teams that are agressive dispellers, or where I'd end up dropping so fast it's insignificant.)

Actually, I came here to post this. I come from Khadgar Alliance, so of course, Mal'ganis is in our server bracket.

If you guys see any "Fade to Black" members from Khadgar, give them a 'HELLOOOOOOO' for me okay! I've been telling my guild members that you guys (along with the goon squad) are complete baby raping murder buckets.

Cenarion Circle's (Alliance) queue times didn't change at all with Cross Server BGs.

Still sitting on half hour to two hour queues.

Even funnier, the person who transferred to the other server in the Mal'Ganis battlegroup completed the transfer and got into 1 AV and 5 or 6 ABs, maybe more, before I got into a single WSG last night.

I can't wait to be done with this crap.

Fun fact, a surprising majority of Cenarion Circle's Horde have macro's for when they rez to say stuff like "Ouch, that will leave a mark" or "I'm back in action!" Also, they aren't very good at AV :(

Horde do the macro thing a lot more than the Alliance, I guess. o.O It's the RP thing.

I transferred my Rogue over last night (Going to be playing him instead of my priest). PuG players are better, queue times were 3 minutes at most (AV), the server economy is better, and I'm going to get to run into Elitist Jerks!

Hah, yeah the macros always gives me a good chuckle. Don't see that many on my server though. Funny thing about our EU cluster, when some of the PvP servers found out they were with a couple of RPPvP servers they were pretty damn happy with themselves and one of the line's that was thrown around for a long time was 'We're going to beat them so badly they're going to spew up lore'

Well as someone who levelled 2 60s on a pvp server prior to rolling here this amused me, and now cross server BGs are here i've never seen the PvP standards so low. I feel like I'm pvping on the test server. Completely useless players everywhere, and a surprisingly low number of decently geared players (my server was up ~August 2006 so other servers in the cluster have had head starts). We've had a couple of premade encounters, us being outgeared and still winning *shrug* I was definately hoping for more. Maybe when the BG servers aren't so buggy anymore (I had a 4 hour WSG queue yesterday).

I think once the Cross Server BG "thrill" dies down, better players will surface once again.

Well, at least I hope so. :/

I haven't seen anyone from the boards from my BG groups, but that's probably because I've only been pvping on a 49 alt (is it twink if you have no items from the AH and use only gear you've found yourself?). Hopefully I run into some of them, because the PuGs from BG10 are terrible, and half the preforms are about as good as the PuGs because of their lesser gear/experience.

And yes, some of it is lesser gear, but some "strategy" from people on new servers is really naivete. I don't mean it to be insulting, but if someone doesn't hasn't had the same amount of experience, certain things they simply may not know. Floating assaults from the LM to the BS is hilarious to people who have never seen it before, for example.

PvP (WSG/AB) on Gorefiend, for Horde at least, used to be a nightmare for us. We'd be a bit undergeared against some of the better guilds (Deus Invictus, Sinister, Excessive[i'm not doing the random capitalization!]) so we were always in for a good fight. Jump ahead to x-realm battle grounds... we were very disappointed. WSG games that last 8 minutes are just boring. Great for an honor grind, not so much for feeling good about your win. Sometimes we'll go up against a decent team, but I haven't been on a losing WSG team since the patch (granted I only do it maybe 10 times a week, but still).
