[Druid] Shifting with the scroller
Posted 18 April 2007 - 03:06 PM
Being able to shift out with the scroller is a huge plus in arena's though and our team lost multiple matches already because I had to try to shift out multiple times in a row (declick bearform press cyclone hotkey, 2 seconds later you notice you're still in bearform standing around doing nothing)
Any help is appreciated.

With forms, you may well see that you shift then shift back due to multiple wheel signals.

I have bound shift+wheel down for stealthing (stance 2) and shift + wheel up for destealthing (stance 1), things like stealth and immediate unstealth don't happen.
As for druids, as far as I know they have to be in their human form to change stances, don't they?
So you couldn't just switch from cat to bear with one scrolling action, this would require two.
Unless of course there is an addon for this, which I think there actually was. But I don't know when I stumbled across this, probably before patch 2.0 and therefore with a good chance that it broke.

You might also consider rebinding the shifting keys as another timesaver. By default the shifting keys are Ctrl-F1 through Ctrl-F5 or F6 if you have a talent form. For a while I rebound them to just the function keys but that sometimes interferes with healing your party. Now I have them bound starting at F6. It might be more intuitive and faster to press a key to cancel bearform than to click it off from your buffs.
I did this with my warrior for PVP (F1-F3) and it's so helpful that I don't even display the stance buttons anymore.

MACRO 16777264 "Caster" Spell_Nature_Polymorph_Cow
/cancelaura [stance:1] Dire Bear Form; [stance:2] Aquatic Form; [stance:3] Cat Form; [stance:4] Travel Form; [stance:5] Flight Form;
You can just spam this or combine with your Cyclone spell.
Oh, this one assumes you don't have tree or moonkin forms. If you do, they will fill your stance 5 slot and flight form will be pushed go to stance 6.

I can dig up the macros in a little bit once I get back home.
I basically have the same things Blindworld has, just with different coding. They achieve the same end result, though. I do prefer my "All In One" travel for macro, so I'll post it here:
/cancelaura [stance:1]Dire Bear Form;[stance:2]Aquatic Form;[stance:3]Cat Form;[stance:4]Travel Form /dismount /use [outdoors]MOUNT /cast [nostance, swimming]Aquatic Form;[nostance, outdoors]Travel FormIf you're not moving and not in combat, you'll mount. If you're moving, you'll use travel form. If you're in water, you'll go aquatic. You can even set it up so if all those fail, you can go cat for dash. I haven't bothered working out how to put flight form in since I've retired from my druid for the time being.

MACRO 16777221 "Aquatic" INV_Misc_QuestionMark #showtooltip Aquatic Form /dismount /cast [stance:1] Dire Bear Form; [stance:3] Cat Form; [stance: 4] Travel Form /cast [nostance] Aquatic Form END MACRO 16777220 "Bear" INV_Misc_QuestionMark #showtooltip Dire Bear Form /dismount /cast [stance:2] Aquatic Form; [stance:3] Cat Form; [stance:4] Travel Form /cast [nostance] Dire Bear Form END MACRO 16777219 "Cat" INV_Misc_QuestionMark #showtooltip Cat Form /dismount /cast [stance:1] Dire Bear Form; [stance:2] Aquatic Form; [stance:4] Travel Form; /cast [nostance] Cat Form; /cast [nocombat, nostealth, stance:3] Prowl END MACRO 16777218 "Human" Spell_unused2 /dismount /cast [stance:3] Cat Form; [stance:1] Dire Bear Form; [stance:2] Aquatic Form; [stance:4] Travel Form END MACRO 16777222 "Travel" INV_Misc_QuestionMark #showtooltip Travel Form /dismount /cast [stance:1] Dire Bear Form; [stance:2] Aquatic Form; [stance:3] Cat Form /cast [nostance] Travel Form END
To get the functionality you want, you can create the "Human" macro, place it on your action bar, and then bind that location to the mouse wheel.
Each macro will (when spammed) shift you out of whatever form you're currently in, or dismount you, and shift you into the form you'd like to change into. The cat form macro I also added stealthing (will not unstealth you however). When mashed, these macros will never "unshift" you so you can spam them all day and stay in the form you want to be in.

stupid question, but I tried to do this a few months ago, and for the life of me I could not figure out how to bind the actual scrollwheel actions. I would try to set it, and the game would not recognize the "mouseclick". Is there any workaround to this? My scrollwheel has the usual up/down, and also left, right and click. I'd love to be able to bind something to the left, right and click buttons.
One workaround is to bind the different actions on your wheel to keys on the keyboard that you don't usually hit then WoW will read those mouse events as buttons on your keyboard and should bind them accordingly. Some mouse software just doesn't handle somewhat obscure things such as tilt wheels and such in a way that agrees with WoW.
