Aquila was formed in April 2007 from the raiding core of a larger older guild called Divine Protectors. We had no intentions of pushing for progress we just wanted to raid with like minded people and have some fun. We achieved that aim and more - ending TBC as realm No.2. We continued in Wrath ending overall realm No.2 again with just Lich King 25HC alive. While we enjoyed 25 man throughout TBC and most of Wrath recruitment became an issue for us like the majority of guild on most realms. As a result we decided to switch to 10 man raiding in Cataclysm. We started late and overcame various obstacles to remain in the top 5 for progression.
What we do
We currently schedule four raiding nights per week - this is mainly to ensure each member gets to raid at least twice usually three times each week. The raids are Sunday/Monday and Wednesday/Thursday from 20:50 to 00:00 server time. We keep this under review. We expect our raiders to sign and be available for (selected or not) at least two and preferably three raids each week.
All repairs (for all ranks - both in raids and out) are paid for by the guild bank. Likewise the bank supplies flasks (via cauldrons) and where appropriate elixirs. We also keep a stock of potions relevant for our classes and specs which raiders are welcome to top up from. A large amount of herbs and volatiles are kept to make additional pots as required. Likewise enchanting scrolls or mats are usually available from the guild bank. We have a wide range of professions in the guild and there is usually someone (main or alt) that can craft, cut, cook or create any item, potion, elixir, gem or enchant you may require.
Our loot system is EPGP - we have used this since forming and found it to be the fairest system overall with least amount of drama. EP is given out on a time basis, no EP is awarded to those in reserve. In general existing raiders will have priority over new recruits - however our loot master has the final say with regard looting and they are given discretion to pass an item to someone considered more needy. We are not the loot whoring type and do not prioritise officers over raiders.
What we are looking for
Currently we are most in need of:
Healers: primarily a Disc or Holy Priest and Resto Shaman - we will also look at Resto Druid and even Holy Paladin applications
Melee: We are currently short of melee DPS in general and will discuss all applications.
Ranged: a Hunter is our number 1 priority on the ranged DPS front, but we are willing to discuss all applications other than warlocks.
We are a long established guild with many players who've been with us since we formed. We are looking to recruit players who are wanting to settle down in a friendly and generally helpful guild and who are intending to regularly play. If you are considering quitting the game or reducing your playtime below our minimum requirement we're not the guild for you.
Other key points to be aware of; you should be able to handle critism and know when a long winded rant applies to you or not, be more interested in progression than loot - we wish to kill things we've not killed before not get a shiney from old content during normal raids. We have a large number of alts who run heroics and from time to time old raids and we encourage our members to take part when they can.
I'm interested - what next?
If this sounds interesting please visit our website and specifically our recruitment forum.
Aquila - Hellscream Europe
There you will find a number of readme posts which you should, well, read first. We have a fairly simple application form which is more concerned with allowing you to demonstrate you know your class than listing achievements.
If you would like further information you are welcome to send a private message on the forum to; Monopedia, Hubbodin or Numeric. In-game you can contact the same people (on Hellscream obviously) via /w or in-game mail. Please do be aware of our raid times if you're doing this - we may not respond immediately or at all - but don't let that put you off, just try again outside our raiding periods.
Thanks for reading and good luck in whatever you do!
