Quoting a post infracted for whining to add some of your own = not so smart.
I think what irks me most about the treatment of Arcane, and it's the most childish of things, is that they were so fast to nerf it when it was considered overpowered but they've been slow slow to buff it now that it's underpowered.
I couldn't agree more Pasture ... you almost feel like an Arcane Mage must have pissed arcane missiles in some dev's pool or something. They HOTFIXED the AM clipping to Abar change mid-week - something usually reserved for dupe-bugs and massive boss exploits. And you didn't even mention the 3.2 nerf to Tier SEVEN 2-pc ... reducing the mana-gem bonus to 20%. Someone want to explain how that change rose to the top of the priority list.
Reihert: Sorry to say, but your hopes sound awfully lot like what frost mages were saying before 3.1. All the signs indicate that 3.2 is very close. The class changes in the recent PTR revisions have been really minor and I doubt they are going to make any significant changes at this point. There's always 3.3 and then some day 4.0, but don't hold your breath (you'll just run out of air, I think).
Unfortunately I have to agree with Tigafin here. The only Quick-fix for Arcane would have been to buff mana regen enough that you could reasonably maintain AB(spam)-MBAM for a substantial portion of a boss fight. To prevent PvP problems the mana-gain would have to be linked to Spirit somehow. However - if you look at the Dev comments over the past few months you will see tacit admissions that - 1) Mage Armor is broken [and no one uses it], 2) the Arcane tree overall is bloated, 3) they aren't happy that Arcane/Frost ended up itemizing with completely different gear/stats than Fire/FFB.
Given the extent of those problems and the pressing need to balance Mage DPS closer to Warlock DPS for at least 1 spec for 3.2, I wouldn't expect to see Arcane fixed until Icecrown at the earliest and possible not until Cataclysm since they seem to be looking towards an overhaul more than a patch job.
