You can get close to your 8.6 hit on gear easily enough that it doesn't make sense to sacrifice +7 damage. Especially for the cost.

There really are a few sides to this. If i knew your class (profile :p) I could probably come up with a more substantiated answer. Failing that, in the thread about buffs -Flask of the Titans- getting knocked off it was brought up that alot of enchantments and the likes take up an extra (hidden) buff slot.
However I believe that was the old one that gave 3% to hit, both melee and ranged. Assuming you are a hunter, it all depends what you are sitting at in terms of +hit. 9 seems to be the magic number against level 63 mobs. If you already have that, go for a +7 dmg scope instead. If not i guess the accurascope could get you there.
With your profile (and perhaps ctprofile) I'm sure someone could have given you a waaay better answer. Failing that, you can find alot of hunter information and theorycraft right here
If you can undo the bra with your teeth, it leaves your hands free for the keyboard.

officially it's no longer affecting melee hits, and as far as I know it's not bugged, so indeed, it only applies to ranged.
Just checking - the +3% to hit no longer applies to melee damage correct? Only ranged?

...wait, what's that? You mean you don't use wands? Oh, sorry, I had no way of knowing.
There are at least two threads recently updated on these forums with an extensive discussion of hunter mechanics, and +hit, +skill, and so forth.
