Is there some quick and dirty way to find a probability distribution for every ilevel? Do any equations exist to find out the probability of what you will get when you disenchant something? I haven't been able to find any good writeups on how disenchanting works. I've noticed that for highlevel green items the chance of you getting more illusion dust and more greater eternal essences goes up if the ilevel of the item is closer to 60. Your disenchants also yield more materials if the item is plate compared to cloth.

My Observations for ~100 disenchants, I'm probably really wrong:
ilvl56 Green Leather:
Illusion Dust x1 = 25%
Illusion Dust x2 = 45%
Illusion Dust x3 = 0%
Illusion Dust x4 = 0%
Illusion Dust x5 = 0%
Greater Eternal Essence x1 = 10%
Greater Eternal Essence x2 = 15%
Greater Eternal Essence x3 = 0%
Greater Eternal Essence x4 = 0%
Greater Eternal Essence x5 = 0%
Large Brilliant Shard x1 = 5%

ilvl59 Green Cloth:
Illusion Dust x1 = 20%
Illusion Dust x2 = 44%
Illusion Dust x3 = 0%
Illusion Dust x4 = 0%
Illusion Dust x5 = 0%
Greater Eternal Essence x1 = 13%
Greater Eternal Essence x2 = 18%
Greater Eternal Essence x3 = 0%
Greater Eternal Essence x4 = 0%
Greater Eternal Essence x5 = 0%
Large Brilliant Shard x1 = 5%

There has to be some holy grail equation out there. Any stats wiz want to take a stab at how it works?

Isnt there a mod, called Enchantrix, that will give you this information when you mouseover an item?

Enchantrix bases its predictions on archived data.
The first versions also didn't tel you the number of each component - I believe the more recent versions/clones do though.

SO basically, it's all well and good for existing items, but not very good every time a new wave of items enters the game.

Entrantrix has a database where some items have been disenchanted less than 5 times and some items have been disenchanted 5000 times. It isn't something I'd like to rely on for disenchanting random items.

Besides, heres no way blizzard hand codes the results of every item. Assuming the results of disenchanting are linked directed to the level of an item there has to be a simple equation to figure out the yield of an item. I guess I'm just a little surprised it doesn't exist after ~2 years.

The equations seem similar for every 10 levels with the mats obtained changing.

Marketa im sure it does exist but its the kind of thing that makes money so why give it out.

Don't know about ilvls, percentages, and stuff but the actual lvl req have max DE mats.

Items lvl 51-55 can only DE into 1-2 dust 1-2 GEE.
Items lvl 56-60 can only DE into 2-5 dust 1-3 GEE.

The first versions also didn't tel you the number of each component - I believe the more recent versions/clones do though.

It now gives you a weighted number - 60% chance of getting 1.5 Illusion dusts, for example.
