Improved Heroic Strike or Improved Slam?

We know that instant attacks are greater that non as it gives us fury warriors a chance to proc flury (and not to mention weapon procs and enchant procs.) Instant attacks also give us more rage as we get the standard white hit. So abilities such as Whirlwind are better than Heroic Strike as we save more rage, can do more abilities, proc flury more, and therefor increase our DPS substantially.
Now here is what I was thinking about a week ago. Imp HS will cost you a white swing (with my HWL Cleaver that amounts to 8 rage) and the HS cost, which for me is a grand total of 20 rage. With HS you will also only do weapon damage + 157. Now granted when you crit, this will make a nice number. If we look at Imp Slam, it's 15 rage to slam the opponent for weapon damabe plus 87. This damage isnt too far off of HS. So if you white hit with your main hand and imediatly follow it with a Slam, you'd get your 8 rage (for me) from your white swing, then spend 15 rage for a .5 second swing, making your Slam only cost 7 rage. This will also give you 2 chances to proc flury and whatever weapon proc + enchants you have.
So if we look at it, with Imp Slam (and my gear) I'd get 2 hits for 351-421 (w/o battle shout, rampage, etc) within a total of 3.4 seconds starting from a normal attack (2.9 attack speed from cleaver +.5 second for slam). You would also calculate on another 87 damage on the second attack for the slam. This would cost me 7 rage total (8 rage gained from white hit, 15 spent for the ability, netting 7 rage lost.)
Now if we look at Imp HS I'd get 1 hit for 351-421 in 2.9 seconds and an additional 157 damage ontop of that. This would also cost me a total of 20 rage (12 rage for teh ability and 8 for the rage I lost from the white hit.)
So with Imp Slam you gain an additional 281-351 total damage for 13 rage less.
So yes, right off the bat it seems like Imp Slam is a pure winner. Here is what I need help with. Obviously Imp Slam would be better for PvE as in PvP there's a lot of moving around and is harder to use when with HS you can just que it up. When you use Slam, it resets the swing timers. If you catch it after your main hand hit, you'd stop swinging both weapons for .5 seconds. Now depending on your offhand, it could make a difference I supose, but am not sure. I currently offhand Thunderfury, so the fastest it would swing is 1.43 seconds. That means if it's in the middle of a swing when I use Slam, it's reset the swing time and add .5 second onto it. This might cost you some rage generation, but how much, and how drastically does it effect the rhythum? We also have to remember that the offhand hit doesnt produce nearly as much rage as the main hand. I believe mine generates roughly 2 or 3 rage (dont really know to behonest, I guess I could run the formulae from wowwiki.com.)
Anyways, read this through, think on it for a bit, and post any thoughts or comments you might have if you would. I do apreciate it. :) Remember, I'm just doing this to research and possibly improve myself and others out there who read this.

There is a thread on slam from a while ago. You aparently have to worry not only about "spell" pushback on the cast but slam resets both your off hand and main hand swing timer so you will lose some rage from the increased time between auto attacks.
