Cookie Cutter Meta (RED): 21Agi & 3% bonus crit damage (some like CSD, likely a matter of gear like everything else)
Excellent bonuses with one drawback - A single sub-optimal gem
Meta in Question (SSD): 42AP & run speed increase
Decent bonuses with no drawback - Optimal gems will fulfill the meta requirement
For a hit/exp capped Enh Shammy: AP, Haste and Run speed is almost always optimal.
The cookie cutter: RED + Nightmare Tear + Tuskarr's
The question: SSD + Bright Cardinal (or QKA) + Greater Assault
COOKIE CUTTER (assuming King's)
3% bonus crit damage/23Agi
3% bonus crit damage
.46% melee crit
.07% spell crit
Question (King's irrelevant)
If I got my math wrong, please correct me. If I got my math right, then the difference looks like this:
+3% crit damage, .46% melee/.07% spell crit
58AP, 17 Spell
EnhSim seems to put the latter at 71EP. The problem is that critical strike rating =/= melee crit or spell crit for a shaman and +3% bonus crit gets more valuable as your gear improves...I'm struggling to find a way to work this out and know if RED is optimal. Top Shammies use RED and that's good enough for some. In fact, it's good enough for me. I use it. I just want to see some math. I love the "mathiness" of Enhancement Shamans and just want to see if we haven't signed a blank check of faith to RED (or CSD).
Thank you all for checking this out.
