Every class has it's little niche and specific things for each fight in class forums.

This thread however, is more focused on general melee discussion (i.e. What raid fights you don't bring them to.). Use to discuss raid boss mechanics and how to deal with them as melee.

How are you guys maintaining uptime on Thok during his eating phase? Does he still kill while he is casting fixate? Can you be eaten while he turns to face his new target if his face passes you as he rotates or is it an immediate 180?

ALL dps ignore jailer for first 3 fixates while he still walks slow and they dps him from behind. Melee back off just before he changes targets because if he spins around he will one shot all of them. Once he picks a new target melee move back. Melee who are following boss are NOT at risk of being fixate targets because Thok cannot fixate anyone who is within 20 yards of him (so long is there is at least one player who is > 20 yards that is).
Once he starts to move faster to where melee can no longer really follow and dps, they switch to and kill jailer. Timing wise, this allows jailer to die around 10 stacks and terminates phase between 12-14. Some may not want to drag kite phase that long though but it is pretty standard for heroic.

We have had a lot of success with having all our melee get right on the jailer once our tank has aggro on him while ranged stays on Thok and melee peels off whenever they are fixated.
