Because the value posted above shows SS to be less Rage-efficient than Imp. Sunder (in fact, less Rage-efficient than unimproved Sunder), which would makes its value rather limited.

I have no idea which numbers are which in today's latest patch, but shield slam has ALWAYS been behind other skills for rage efficiency. Shield slam is most useful for a secondary snap-aggro skill for when taunt is on cooldown or when you absolutely need that mob off someone without having to switch stances for mocking blow or burn a 10 minute shout.

This is the build I used when I was prot specced. LOL at imp. revenge, but it was fun for sartura. You have quite a lot of flexibility with prot specs because half the tree is garbage/filler.

I reckon so. I've never really dropped earthbind in phase 1 Nef that I can think of. Wait yes I have, just not often.

Pro fucking tanking trinkets:

Out of curiosity, why would you say that the Drake Fang Talisman is a pro tanking trinket over, say, Styleen's?

I'm just taking a guess here... but I'm guessing it's because of avoidance cap issues, and the fact that the 5% block on Styleen's takes up close to 10% of the available 'avoidance slots'.

I thought the avoidance cap was a myth.

I thought the avoidance cap was a myth.

I believe blue posted that it is, and from personal experience it is. If there was really a 60% avoidance cap what would be the point of evasion?

I'm trying to dig up that post, but it looks like it's long gone. Still searching, though.

I was protection for a pretty long time (at least a year). I used this build:

http://www.worldofwa...250110530100151

It was nice to go into fights with the 100 rage and I was working for that magic number of 440 skill defense.

After the Anger Management Nerf and picking up some extra + defense gear, I'd probably do this:

http://www.worldofwa...250110530200151

The extra attack power reduction on demo shout is helpful, and peircing howl has great utility in pvp and pve. I'd also think about the 2 pts in inproved taunt, as the further you go in raiding instances, the less useful that is.

I'm fury now BTW.

If there were an avoidance cap, I wouldn't be able to get 98% block and 117% parry. (oh no now I'm like vesperia)

Also, Styleen's is amazing and should be in that trinket list.

PS - Drake Fang Talisman is a wonderful passive tank trinket. It's a shame that DPS hogs it.

I like this line of thought Wub.

Styleen's is nice. It's not as good a tanking trinket as those three.

Maybe you should learn a thing or three from me. :V

5% block is pretty fucking stupid when you're spamming shield block because you have infinite rage anyhow. Your defense in pro gear is typically over 425, and you have plenty of room to spare in that respect. You should have already dropped golden hive for elementium threaded if that's your bag and this is the case. And after that, dropping Styleen's for any of those trinkets, with lifegiving or one of the other two remaining, is a really good idea since losing 24 block isn't really worth it when a boss two shots you. The burst mitigation is much nicer.

Plus two fucking percent hit FUCK god damn.

I like where your head's at wub but the sad fact is that if you rely on the random number generator too long in this game, it will let you down. Armor and +block are the two consistancies that the stupid system can't fuck with so load them up if you can. Styleen's is not all hype, and im not even close to 425 defense with the trinkets you're listing, and im 5/8 wrath. :-/

I personally rejoiced when i got my styleen's because it's the raiding tank's equivelent to ToEP for arcane power mages.

edit: not in the sense that its a timer, but the overall addition to your character's potential (atleast seemingly) goes up in a similar fashion.

It's not about relying on random number generators. It's about the fact that once you do pass 425 defense, it's more useful to have burst mitigation than shield block percentange and value in your trinket slot. Which is another reason Anticipation is so valuable.

Well obviously it depends on your goals.

Styleen's is god when you want mitigation. I want my Vek'nilash tank to be wearing a Styleen's + OBT or Lifegiving.

When you want to generate maximum threat, DFT is, of course, better.

Seems straightforward to me.

If I had DFT you would not have pulled heal aggro on the emps pull, clearly it should be tank priority.

I won't argue that Styleen's is nice. It's just not as appealing in many ways.
